Description Overview CLAFLIN UNIVERSITY , founded in 1869, is becoming recognized as one of the leading institutions of higher education in the southeast. Responsibilities Claflin University invites applicants to apply for a tenure-track position as Assistant or Associate Professor of Political Science. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching foundational political science courses, research methods and statistics, and advanced program courses within the political science curriculum. We are specifically seeking to hire an applicant with expertise in Public Administration, Policy, History. and/or expertise in African American political leadership/studies who can teach courses in the African American Political thought, African American politics, Issues in Justice, African political thought, and civil liberties. A commitment to teaching excellence and student advising is required.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to maintain an ongoing program of research and publication, the potential to secure external grant funding to support that research, and the willingness to contribute substantially to the departments teaching mission.
Additionally, this position seeks a person that has an interest in legal and minority relations in America (e.g., women, gender, and diversity of thought) who can bring unique skills to foster the growth. Candidates who can contribute to the development and implementation of the program are especially desirable. Candidates with expertise in and experience with interdisciplinary work, certificate programs, innovative research-related technology, and/or community outreach are also invited to apply.
Qualifications Qualifications A PhD is preferred (ABD considered). A successful candidate must possess experience in college level teaching. All specializations will be considered. Candidates with additional credentials are especially invited to apply.
SALARY: Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
