We are currently searching for a Bioinformatics Scientist to provide support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is full-time, and it is on site at NIH in Bethesda, MD and/or remote work.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for various genomics applications.
• Develop web-based in-house database interface.
• Implement and utilize workflows for next generation sequencing (i.e., QC and analysis).
• Participate in innovation and development of analytical solutions.
• Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• BA/BSC with six (6+) years of experience or MA/MSC with four (4+) years of experience.
• Experience must be from a related field (i.e., Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Computer Science, or related discipline).
• Programming experience using relevant packages (i.e., Python, Perl, R).
• Detailed understanding of Illumina based NGS methods and tools.
• Experience troubleshooting and exploring various existing scientific analysis tools.
• HPC clusters and use of command line tools and scripting experience.
• Working knowledge of existing tools to analyze NGS data.
• Experience with relational database design and maintenance (i.e., MySQL, Postgres) is a plus.
