We’re actively seeking a talented Head of AI and IT Data Strategy to join our Enterprise Pacific Life Technology team in Newport Beach, CA.
This role is required to be on-site. You’ll work at our state-of-the-art Newport Beach headquarters.
This role is hybrid. We believe in empowering our employees to get work done both in and out of the office.
As the Head of AI and IT Data Strategy Leader, you will play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by leading four key areas that enable data-driven decision making, innovation, and operational excellence across Pacific Life: AI strategy, Data strategy, Data Architecture, and Data Governance. You will fill a new role that sits within the organization of the Chief Data Officer alongside strategy, architecture and data technology teams driving Pacific Life’s transformational efforts. Through a matrixed team of internal and external experts, you will foster a data and AI culture and drive collaboration and adoption across the organization.
How you’ll help move us forward:
Build the Data strategy and roadmap, including defining and managing the data inventory, data quality, data integration, data engineering, and data science capabilities.
Build and execute the AI strategy and roadmap, including identifying and prioritizing use cases, selecting, and deploying platforms and tools, and developing and implementing solutions that leverage machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Lead the Data Architecture function, including designing and architecting data and analytics solutions and platforms, leveraging cloud, open source, and vendor technologies, and ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
Lead the Data Governance function, including defining and implementing the data and AI governance framework, policies, standards, and best practices, and ensuring data quality, security, privacy, and compliance.
Partner with business stakeholders and technology teams to understand data and AI needs, identify opportunities, and deliver solutions that add value and drive outcomes.
Establish and monitor data and AI performance metrics and KPIs (key performance indicators) and ensure continuous improvement and optimization.
Build and manage a high-performing team of data and AI professionals, and provide coaching, mentoring, and career development.
The experience you bring:
12+ years of relevant experience in data and AI strategy and delivery
Extensive and diverse experience in defining and executing data and AI strategy and solutions across various domains and sectors
Proficient in guiding the use of a wide range of data and AI technologies, such as data quality, data integration, data engineering, data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, to solve complex business problems
Skilled in developing, communicating, and maintaining data and AI strategy and roadmaps, including aligning them with business objectives and ensuring stakeholder buy-in
Effective communication and leadership skills, including the ability to influence, collaborate, and drive change across the organization
Experience leading and managing teams of data and AI professionals, both internal and external, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
What makes you stand out:
Demonstrated experience with cloud-based data and AI platforms and tools (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Experience leading strategy and implementing data and AI solutions in the insurance / financial services industry
Exposure to industry-specific data and AI regulatory and compliance environment and associated technology ramifications (e.g., CCPA, GDPR, GLBA)

Base pay range: $250,000 - $300,000

Base Pay Range:
The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
