Counselor, Social Worker or Registered Nurse with Psychiatric Experience
Schedule:
2 hrs per week on-site, flexible schedule
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Provider to deliver vital mental health services to inmates within a county jail system. The ideal candidate will possess either a master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field, or a bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience providing mental health services. This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to positively impact individuals' lives during an important time.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of inmates' mental health needs, utilizing standardized assessment tools and clinical interviews.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, focusing on stabilization, skill-building, and preparation for re-entry into the community.
Provide individual and group counseling services, addressing a range of issues such as substance abuse, trauma, anger management, and coping skills.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including corrections staff, medical professionals, and probation officers to ensure comprehensive care.
Facilitate referrals to internal programs and external community resources for ongoing support upon release.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation of assessments, treatment plans, sessions, and other relevant information.
Stay current with best practices in correctional mental health and seek out opportunities for professional growth.
Qualifications:
Master's Level:
Master’s degree in counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. Current licensure (LPC, LCSW, etc.) and eligibility for certification in correctional mental health (preferred). At least 2 years of experience providing mental health services, with experience in a correctional setting (preferred).
Bachelor's Level:
Bachelor's degree in a field such as Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field. At least 4 years of experience providing mental health services, with experience in a correctional setting (preferred).
Knowledge of evidence-based practices for working with justice-involved populations.
Excellent clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, potentially challenging environment.
Commitment to cultural competence and working with diverse populations.
Registered Nurse:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychiatric nursing
Experience working with diverse patient populations and diagnoses (e.g., substance abuse, personality disorders, psychosis)
Correctional health experience preferred, but not required
Working Conditions:
This position is within a county jail setting.
Must be able to pass a background check and adhere to all security protocols.
Ability to work designated shift.
