Closing Date: Monday, September 30th, 9:00 PM [PST] Position: Stage Assistant - LPAC Department: Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Community Services - LPAC Hourly Range: $18.13 - $20.99 Classification: Temporary Non-Exempt - Overtime Eligible
Job Summary: The Stage Assistant reports to the LPAC Technical Director and operates under the supervision of the LPAC Stage Manager, and Senior Technical and Senior Stage Assistants. The Stage Assistant is responsible for one or more of the following: support for technical load-ins/strikes, pre-hangs, show calls, outdoor events, and theatre maintenance.
The position is highly visible and requires extensive contact with amateur and professional performing arts organizations, as well as the general public.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Example of Duties & Responsibilities: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Lighting hangs and restores.
- Follow spot operating.
- Stage audio setups
- Scenic construction
- Wardrobe handling
- Video camera operating
- Counterweight fly system loading/operations
- Ability to set and complete goals with supervision.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance procedures
- Working with dance, music and theatre performances
- Ability to work nights and/or weekends.
Required Skills: - Familiarity with general live theatre operations
- Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Deal tactfully and effectively with staff, artists, and the public.
Education and Experience: - Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance.
- Currently enrolled in a college or university majoring in Arts or a related field is desirable.
