CAREER DESCRIPTION SUPERVISING DEPUTY PUBLIC ADMINISTRATOR In addition to performance-based merit increases, this position is scheduled to receive salary range increases on the following date:
Effective June 27, 2025 - 4.00% increase
THIS RECRUITMENT IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC The eligible list established through this recruitment will be used to fill a current vacancy within the Orange County Public Administrator and may also be used to fill positions in similar and/or lower classifications throughout the County of Orange.

(PST) ORANGE COUNTY PUBLIC ADMINISTRATOR : The provides full-service estate administration, including an in-house real estate broker, property management, personal property storage, auction services, accounting, investment liquidation, and dedicated legal counsel. As a part of the Orange County District Attorney's office, the Public Administrator protects, manages and acts as a fiduciary for decedent estates throughout the probate process for deceased residents of Orange County, who at the time of their death, left no identifiable person(s) qualified to be named executor/administrator of their estate. In addition, heirs or family members of decedents may nominate the Public Administrator to act on their behalf to probate their loved one's estate. Once the Court appoints the Public Administrator to act, the office handles a variety of functions from cleaning out the residence of decedent, paying the decedent's creditors, contacting heirs and selling or distributing the assets of the decedent including real and personal property. County Counsel acts as the representative of the Public Administrator in court throughout the probate process.
THE OPPORTUNITY: The Supervising Deputy Public Administrator is responsible for performing a wide variety of activities and services to fulfill the legal mandates of the Public Administrator. They are responsible for reviewing and assigning referrals and Orders to Show Cause that are issued from the court to the Deputy Public Administrators under their supervision. Incumbents will assist in creating policies, training and mentoring deputies under their supervision, and the management of some of the more complex estates of deceased persons determined by the courts to fall within the jurisdiction of the Public Administrator.

not an Attorney position
nor part of the Attorney series. This position is
not related to the educational Public Administration major (such as bachelor's in public administration or master's in public administration).
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES: In addition to the minimum experience and education requirements, the ideal candidate will possess a degree in Business Administration, Communications, Management, Finance, Legal Studies or a related field from an accredited college or university.
